FLOW NZ was engaged by Auckland Council to design, manufacture and install a compact wheel play activation at Meadowood Reserve, creating a unique skateable feature within the existing playground environment.
The project showcases FLOW's prefabricated skate infrastructure system, incorporating a Glass Reinforced Concrete (GRC) quarterpipe and a custom Skate Kerb featuring the popular Two Toes Party profile. Manufactured offsite and delivered as complete units, the features enabled rapid installation with minimal site disruption while maintaining the durability and ride quality expected of permanent concrete skate infrastructure.
Designed to appeal to skateboarders, scooter riders and BMX users of varying skill levels, the activation provides opportunities for progression, creativity and social play within a compact footprint. The combination of the quarterpipe and Skate Kerb creates multiple lines and trick options, transforming an underutilised space into a destination for wheeled recreation.
This project demonstrates how prefabricated concrete skate features can be used to deliver high-quality wheel play experiences quickly and cost-effectively, expanding access to skateable infrastructure within local parks and neighbourhood reserves.
